The rubbish bin

Most mornings when master goes out to work he takes the rubbish downstairs with him and dumps it in the bin outside.

If he doesn't, naturally I think it is important to check it out to see if there is anything yummy in there.

They used to use an open topped bin, and it was under the sink so it was difficult to get at and I had to pull it over.

Now mistress uses a flip top one and it is much easier to open and take out what I want. And what I don't want too.

My best find is the paper that the butter is wrapped in. When master puts the last of the butter in the dish he throws the paper in the bin, and if I am lucky I can take it out, lick it very clean, and then tear the paper into tiny pieces.

Next best are the plastic cartons that the vegetarian sausages or rashers or slices came in. There is not really anything to lick but they smell nice so I like to lick them anyway just to see if there are any nice flavours left.

The trouble is that if mistress is still in the bedroom when I do it, she usually hears me and calls out "Pippa. Stop." And being good I do stop.

But the other day master forgot to take it down to the outside bin. Mistress was going out later, and thought 'I must take the rubbish out so Pippa doesn't raid it.' And she forgot. Haha!

As you can see it wasn't much of a haul though. I wasn't too impressed with master's smelly old insoles, and the boxes for the new ones didn't smell remotely interesting.

And much as I like peas, I don't like to eat the nasty hard pods.

Still, it is always worth a look, and a good laugh to get mistress to clear it up when she comes in.

Here I am laughing at mistress.

well, you would have thought they would have given you some more tasty morsels to chew on Pippa!

I love to raid the bin, my pawticulaw favorite is the shredded up printed out emails. Spreading them about the floor is an amazingly fun task!

She who Must Never Be Obeyed shreds lots and lots of printed out emails.........not sure why!

Furry good work!

I like to take tissues out of the small wastebasket sized ones - I just leave them nearby!

I also like to find leftover snakhk khake or khrakher wrappers -

Keep up the great job!

Hi Pippa
I LOVE food and I raid the inside kitchen tidy and the outside garbage bin all the time and I scatter stuff everywhere. My latest nickname is "FATSO". Can you believe this. I feel very insulted by my mum. Her job is to tend to my every need. Mistresses are a major worry, aren't they !!!

My mom has put the bin in the laundry room which has a door so I can't get at it. I would much prefer to live at your house.

Oh Pippa, woo are so lucky to have a bin to get into, ours is hidden away most of the time. But I did manage to get into it yesterday to find my dear wubba. But the very bestest thing to find in there is the butter wrapper - yummy, I love butter!!!

Our mom puts the bin in the garage so we cannot get into it at all. No fun at all, these humans.

We may be getting a new foster tomorrow! Just for a week or so, but it's very exciting. Stay tuned.

That Louie does the same thing. Yesterday there was a huge bulb of garlic in there that Mom had tossed. The entire house smelled like garlic and Louie had garlic breath. No blaming that one on me..

Darling Pippa,
I'm sure that I would love butter too but I've never had any. Our parents keep the garbage behind a door. They never let us do anything fun.

Princess Eva

Hi! Nice to meet you! We found your blog through one of our friends ... H-Mom always keeps the kitchen bin on LOCKDOWN because one time Booker stole a clamshell left from some ham salad, and we had a serious INCIDENT, that almost got nasty. It was so goo, Booker didn't want to give it up. Now ... BIN LOCKDOWN.

Our trash is mostly locked up in cabinets. Butter wrappers sound yummy. My brother Arrow likes dental floss too. And of course chicken bones! You did a good job checking it all out.

We NEVER get yummies like that 'cause the garbage bin is all closed up and we haven't figured out how to get into it. So we have to settle for the trash basket, which has all kinds of paper in it. We love paper -- towels, torn envelopes, the occasional wrapper. Sometimes we get to take the paper directly off the table, even before it goes into the trash. WE always leave it on the rug in the foyer so Mom and Dogdad can appreciate our finesse in turning the paper into bite size pieces.

But butter wrappers? How yummy they muct be!!

Trash is always tasty! Mom had to put a baby lock on our trash can so I couldn't get in there any more. But I have ways. Mwhahaha!

We don't get the chance to raid the rubbish either cos our mum always hides it. We blame Harry for this as our mum says he was a rubbish bin expert, 1 day when she came home he'd ripped a tin can into small pieces he hadn't cut his mouth and there were no probs the other end either, but it's been well hidden since that day.

I used to do that too but for some reason I stopped. Which is good because my rubbish apes always forget to take out the rubbish.

Here's to butter paper and other delicacies!
